Please direct questions to Rebeca Silva, College of Arts and Sciences, rsilvari@uoregon.edu.

2023-2024 CREATIVE ARTS FELLOWSHIP

The Creative Arts Fellowship is designed for tenure-related UO faculty members whose evaluation for tenure and promotion requires achievement in the creative arts. The fellowship provides a one- course release from teaching during the 2023-2024 academic year to allow the applicant to focus on a creative project for one quarter. The successful applicant will continue to receive their regular salary, and the applicant’s department will receive appropriate cost of replacement instruction, if needed. The details of the teaching release are to be negotiated by the fellowship recipient and the recipient’s department head, program director, and/or dean, as appropriate.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee of colleagues from creative arts disciplines.

Submit application materials here: https://casadmin.uoregon.edu/node/add/program-grants-hum-creative-arts. Submission deadline is Monday, March 6, 2023 at 4:00 pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

Eligibility note: Faculty members who have received the Creative Arts Fellowship in any of the three previous award cycles are not eligible to apply. The award period for the Creative Arts Fellowship may not overlap with another funding period.

Submission Guidelines: Applicants must submit the following as a single pdf named “LAST NAME, FIRST NAME Creative Arts Fellowship” by the deadline:

As a single pdf:

  1. A cover page that includes the applicant’s name, academic rank, department, school or college, and title of the project;
  2. A current abbreviated CV that includes selected creative accomplishments and grant/fellowship support (internal and external) received;
  1. A work sample Portfolio of 5-10 representative creative projects (can be a pdf containing images and/or links)
  2. A statement about the project (limited to two, single-spaced pages) that includes:
    1. An artist’s statement discussing your process of practice and your ideas
    2. The significance/value of the current project proposal
    3. The career impact or anticipated results of the work
  3. Additionally, applicants must have their department head, program director, or dean as appropriate send a separate email verifying the following: “I have reviewed Professor’s application for a Creative Arts Fellowship and noted their work plan, and I endorse the application and will accommodate the release from teaching if the application is successful. I am aware that support for replacement teaching will be assessed by my college and based on need.”

2023 SUMMER STIPENDS FOR HUMANITIES AND CREATIVE ARTS TENURE-RELATED FACULTY

Summer stipends of $6,000 each will be awarded to support work on projects in the humanities and the creative arts. These summer stipends cannot be joined with summer session teaching since they are intended to allow the recipient to focus on research/creative work during the summer. In the case of creative projects, faculty whose area of evaluation for tenure and promotion requires achievement in the creative arts will be privileged. Funds may be used for summer salary (in which case, taxes and OPE will be deducted from the $6,000); for reimbursement for travel and/or purchases related to research; or for a combination of the two.

Applications will be evaluated by colleagues from humanities and creative arts disciplines.
